FSOG MOVIE LOCATION The Fish House in Stanley Park As Georgia

While Filming FSOG in Vancouver BC they used the historic Fish House in Stanley Park as the restaurant/bar that Ana goes to with her mother in Georgia. They brought in palm trees that were placed on the lawn to add to the facade of it being in Savannah, Georgia. The Fish House was built in 1930 for a tennis players and golfers in the park. It’s been known as the Fish House in Stanley Park since 1990. It is located in the center of Stanley Park and has a lovely view across the lawns to the water. The perfect place to order your 4th Cosmopolitan.

For the filming they brought in lots of lights and it looked like they did the filming in the main bar dining area.

FSOG FILM LOCATION R8 ON BRIDGE NEAR BEAVER LAKE STANLEY PARK

It was so exciting to see Christian Greys Audi R8 drive up in the new FSOG Trailer. Even better was where it was. I recognized right off that he drives it over a wood bridge that was right near the trail entrance to Beaver Lake in Stanley Park. I believe this was filmed last winter as it was mentioned that they did filming with Jamie and Dakota in the car going over a bridge. I did find some photos from last year that confirm it was filmed at this bridge. I am not sure if it also plays into them walking down the pathway to the lake where they filmed scenes and a reshoot scene. It shows them in both trailers walking through a wooded are towards the lake. I am not sure that the two parts go together. They may not but its sure fun to speculate when these two scenes were filmed so close together.

When filming the reshoot here they had all their trucks and trailers parked on the road beyond the bridge.

These were taken last year during the filming. These are not my photos.

I actually parked in this lot when I was there to watch the reshoots. Its was just down the road a bit.

FSOG MOVIE LOCATION Coffee House RAINIER PROVISIONS

When filming the FSOG movie in Vancouver BC, the production crew descended upon a newer Rainier Provisions. The restaurant was recently remodeled and reopened in February 2013. Rainier Provisions was opened up to the public Tuesday, February 12, 2013. The new delicatessen, on the corner of Carrall and Cordova, will be in the business of deep-seated cravings well met. They’re serving up British bangers, charcuterie, cheeses, great coffee (Stumptown, FTW), excellent salads, and much more at good prices. When I visited the restaurant it was closed, but they were gracious enough to allow me inside to take some photos. I loved the distinctive vegetable wallpaper and turquoise chairs. During the filming Dakota and Jamie sat near the window while he poured her tea water. This is the first place that Christian Grey takes Ana in Portland after the photo shoot at The Heathman. They walk the four blocks down the Portland sidewalk to have coffee and tea. The Public Domain Coffee shop in Portland is very different and more modern, but I think Rainier Provisions is perfect for their first meet up.

I revisited January 2015 and the restaurant is closed. Just being used for private events. I was able to get inside for some more photos and to figure out where Ana and Christian has their coffee/tea.

I think they set their table up in front of that white pillar. It sits in the center of the room. I was told that they used the far area for all the filming equipment and crew. I love the distinctive wallpaper.

In the movie trailer you can see behind Ana there is the black railings that are near the entrance of the restaurant.

FSOG FILMING BEAVER LAKE IN STANLEY PARK Part 3 **UPDATE

I decided to return in Jan. 2015 and once again take some more photos of Beaver Lake and the entrance to the pathway to the lake. I also wanted to try to find the exact spot from the movie trailer where Jamie and Dakota walk hand in hand towards the lake. I am hoping that they must show more of the lake in the movie because its such a lovely area. The trees were more bare now than October and the colors in the lake were changed. They must have originally filmed this last winter so how it looks now would match up pretty well. It was a cold day in Vancouver BC, but I managed to go on a day that the rain was light. I also found the area off the pathway where E. L. James shot some photos last winter during the original filming. There was a clearing in the woods across from the platform that they used for the filming crew.

This is definitely one of my favorite locations of the filming. It will be fun to revisit next time in Vancouver BC.

NEW FSOG BOOK WITH FILM COVER AT BARNES AND NOBLE

Thank you to my local Barnes and Noble for carrying the new FSOG book with the movie tie-in cover. Its quite lovely and makes it more exciting for the movie. They had a display of all the FSOG books.

FSOG MOVIE LOCATION Burrard Iron Works As Portland Bar **UPDATED

The Burrard Iron Works Building near the Gastown area of Vancouver BC was the location used for the bar in Portland in FSOG. Fifty Shades of Grey filmed the famous scene of Ana Steele (Dakota Johnson) vomiting “spectacularly on to the ground” in front of Christian Grey (Jamie Dornan) and spurned Jose (Victor Rasuk) at the back of a pub. She is out celebrating her final exam with best friend Kate Kavanagh (Eloise Mumford) and drunk digits the mysterious Seattle billionaire. Of course Grey tracks her down and takes control. About 75 local extras played students, coming and going from the bar set in the Burrard Iron Works building to the big white tent in the photo below. The night exterior filming took place at the rear of Burrard Iron Works under the Main Street overpass with nothing much visible to anyone outside production. Ironically the bar referenced in the book does not actually exist in Portland.

The large cement building is visible down the street from where they filmed the bicycle incident with Ana and Christian. Also near is the bookstore, coffee house and the block used for Anas apartment. Seems like we will have to wait to see the interiors of the Portland bar and Ana’s “spectacular” experiences.

UPDATE; I revisited the building and was able to get access to the driveway that leads to the back of the building. I was looking for this entrance that is shown in the trailer. It is not on the street front of the building. I ended up walking down the gravel driveway and found it at the rear side of the building. The building is now being used as a art gallery and the art is displayed inside the upper rooms. I also went around to the other side of the railroad tracks and fencing and was able to get some photos of the inside of the upper rooms of the building. These were shielded when they were filming.

FSOG FILM LOCATION UPDATES TO COME

I was fortunate to be invited to spend a few days over New Years Day in Victoria BC with some of my family. Of course I had to add a quick trip to Vancouver BC too. It is just a short 90 minute ferry ride. The weather in Victoria BC was clear and very cold. Once I got here to Vancouver BC it was definitely changing quickly. First day arriving I visited Boundary Bay airport and got an inside look at that huge airplane hanger they filmed in front of and learned a few surprises I didnt know about.

I also got to Ladner Village Hardware and was lucky to run into the owner of the store. While telling me about the FSOG filming he took out his phone and showed me photos of how they rearranged the store for the filming. He also showed and shared with me all they did for the filming and where it took place.

My second day out we raced across the downtown area starting at The Fairmont. What a difference a few months makes. They have been under renovations each time I have come here this year. This was the biggest change with new carpets, light features and the new dining room area almost ready to open. I did get to walk through the ballroom again and see more of it than before. Also got back into the bedroom suite used for the filming.

Next up was Bentall 5 used as Grey house. Then a quick walk to the two downtown locations used for the reshoots. It was great to be able to walk on the areas they filmed on.

I also visited Beaver Lake once again and saw more of the pathway and the bridge used in the trailer with the R8. Also stopped by the Paper Hound book shop and the coffee house Rainier Provisions where I was able to get inside for photos.

Last stop of the day was the Burrards Iron works where they filmed the bar scene that is seen in the trailer. I knew that the front door entrance on the street was not the one used for filming, but I did not know where that entrance door was. Today I was able to walk down the driveway road to the back area of the building and found the doorway area where they filmed. I also so on the back of the building where it was covered for the filming but now was clear. I took lots of pics and then went around to the other side of the railroad tracks and then was able to see into the large space they used inside for the filming. There are two businesses in the building and it was lit up so I could get some decent photos.

NEW FSOG OPI NAIL LACQUER COLLECTION

My friend Chelsea did some fun hand modeling for photos and videos of the new OPI FSOG Nail Lacquers. We got together with some FSOG “props” and had fun displaying the beautiful new nail colors. The set can be purchased at Amazon and other stores that carry OPI polishes. It includes 5 different colors and a glitter which could be put over any of them for some extra shine. I think we ended up loving My Silk Tie with some of the Shine for Me Glitter and the Red Romantically Involved the best.
